U4GM Why This Cheap Blood Boil Warlock Wins in D2R S13

I didn't set out to make a "budget" Warlock. I just got tired of seeing the same shopping list pasted everywhere, so I started with whatever I could scrape together and only checked a diablo 2 resurrected items shop page once to sanity-check prices. Two weeks later, Blood Boil is the build I keep coming back to. It's not flashy like the Mirrored Blades crowd, and it doesn't pretend you're gonna teleport-delete screens. It plays slower. More deliberate. And weirdly, that's why it works.
Blood Boil isn't your damage, your demons areA lot of players treat Blood Boil like a normal fire nuke. That's where they go wrong. You're not "casting damage" in the usual way. You're triggering detonations on your own demons, and the hit comes out as a split of Fire and Physical. So positioning matters. Timing matters. If your demons are clumped on the edge of a pack, you'll feel it. If they're right in the middle, everything pops at once and the screen just falls over. You'll also notice it doesn't care much about your weapon being god-tier, which is kind of the whole point of this setup.
Skills that actually pull their weightHere's the clean path that worked for me, in order. First, max Blood Boil. Second, get Demonic Mastery to the point where, with gear, you hit level 10 and can run three demons without fuss. Third, dump the rest into Blood Oath, then Engorge, because the synergies do more for clear speed than chasing extra mastery levels early. And don't skip Bind Demon. People act like it's a gimmick, but it's practical. Go hunting in the River of Flame and try to bind something like Hephasto with a nasty aura roll, especially Cursed or Conviction. When you land a good one, it feels like you stole an endgame aura for free, and Hell resist walls suddenly stop being walls.
Cheap gear, one annoying breakpointYou can gear this out of the dumpster and still clear content. Leaf staff. Stealth. Lore. Basic res pieces. The only thing I'd call non-negotiable is hitting the 75% Faster Cast Rate breakpoint. Below that, Blood Boil feels sluggish, and monsters just wander out of the blast zone like they've got all day. Patch it with 2 FCR rings, or an amulet, or whatever you can scrounge. For the merc, I went Act 2 Holy Freeze with Insight. One, the slow helps keep packs sitting in your detonation area. Two, you're casting constantly, so Meditation isn't a luxury, it's your fuel.
Where it shines and how I'd keep it rollingAt level 78, I was clearing Chaos in roughly 14 minutes without sweating, and the Secret Cow Level felt even better because density turns your chain explosions into a blender. It's not a speedrunner's dream, but it's steady, safe, and it scales up nicely as you replace bargain pieces over time. If you want to shortcut the gearing grind or just fill in the missing FCR and resist gaps without overpaying, that's where U4GM comes in handy for picking up currency or key items while you keep the build moving.
